Now this will be a challenging detail if they ever need one…

This one resides at VW’s Autostadt pavilion in Wolfsburg, Germany. The mirror finish theme is the work of artist Olaf Nicolai (not a detailer, obviously ;) )

Alfa Romeo 147 – Full detail + G|techniq

25-Jan-2010 · 3 Comments

This car came to me with all the typical paintwork defects resulting from not having it properly detailed for well over 2 years since the owner first took delivery. The overall paintwork looks tired and the gloss has been sucked out by layers of traffic film, scuffed marks and swirls.

My mission therefore is to restore the car’s paintwork back to it’s original showroom condition, have all the details cleaned up and apply a durable protection over it. Well timed as the FedEx man just showed up with my new toy that morning. Thanks to Rob of Gtechniq UK who has been extremely supportive and helpful that I managed to get my ‘fix’ rushed over to me in just 2 days all the way from an ice-aged UK!

Washed, decontaminated and all emblems removed as I prepare for a full paint correction process. The paint surface polishing & prep work alone took me and my team almost 30 man-hours to complete and it’s easy to see the time are well spent!

The application of C1 Crystal Lacquer can be a bit tricky, and it took me a couple of tries before I managed to nailed it just right (thanks again to Rob who kindly took all my calls early in the morning to offer assistance). And the results once it’s fully cured is simply stunning…

G|techniq by AbsoluteGloss

I like it best when the owner told me his car looked like it has been graphically mopped in a computer with an incredibly deep lustre & all panels displaying a mirror-like sheen that it literally transform the car to a showroom-worthy condition!

A look at the perfectly polished & corrected bonnet…

and the roof panel…

Audi R8 enhancement detail

19-Jan-2010 · Leave a Comment

This Audi R8 goes on a full detailing regime on every half-yearly basis, so when the owner wants me to perform an interim enhancement to the paintwork, with a task to bring a touch more colour depth and as much gloss to the paintwork as possible.

The weapon of choice this time will be Swissvax especially since the owner have just bought a tub of Smaragd (Best of Show) wax from me and loving it.

Paintwork Perfection@AbsoluteGloss

After a thorough wash & decontamination, I ran Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Professional on a rotary at medium speed to correct any minor paintwork imperfection and to bring out as much colour defination to the paintwork as possible…

Paintwork Perfection@AbsoluteGloss

…this was then followed up with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid by hand to prime the surface for a Swissvax Smaragd lovin’

Paintwork Perfection@AbsoluteGloss

The results is nothing short of amazing…total work time = approx 4 man-hours. Goes to show how easy it is to perfect a well maintained paintwork. I love the deep lustre these Swissvax waxes are able to bring to the table.

Paintwork Perfection@AbsoluteGloss

It’s always wise to do several light maintenance work throughout the year rather than once a year major detailing work.

Paintwork Perfection@AbsoluteGloss

One final look…

Beautiful G’Zox…Real Glass Coat

13-Jan-2010 · Leave a Comment

Was shifting through my picture library and found some interesting pictures that caught my attention so I thought I’ll post it up here…

The increadible water beading characteristics you’re seeing here is from G’Zox Glass Coating, a new generation of surface coating technology that, in my opinion blows anything I’ve come across before out of the water…and at the time when these pictures were taken, the surface has been coated with G’Zox for over 10 months, such is a testimony of it’s durability!

G'Zox by AbsoluteGloss

Pictures taken right after a heavy tropical rain shower…it shows an incredible tight water beading characteristics as the glass coated surface formed a strong and extremely tight surface tension that will repel moisture, pollutants, dust, oil etc very effectively.

G'Zox by AbsoluteGloss

G’Zox Glass Coating is also the only product that have it’s water repellency function built-in to the main coating itself (compared to competitors’ who’s water repellency layer are added on after coating), this ensures a much superior bonding which allows for an incredible water, dust & pollutant repellency and extended coating durability. Therein lies the advantages of G’Zox Real Glass Coat…surface become incredibly water repellent, very easy to maintain, extremely dirt, oil & pollutant repellent and supremely durable…oh, it’ll also leave the surface with an incredible shine and lustre that can’t help but put a smile on your face! :)

G'Zox Real Glass Coat plus Gloss Type

We all know that the market is littered with too many so-called “surface protection system” and very few, if any at all will work at a level anywhere close to what G’Zox is capable of producing.

G'Zox @ JapanGT

Backed by 56 years (est.1954) of specialised industrial experience in automotive car care, and armed with a vast in-house R&D resources (with over 40 dedicated R&D technicians alone) at G’Zox, these combined to ensure that all G’Zox products would have undergone an exhausive lab and extensive real world test to produce an industry-leading product, bar none!!! Little wonder that G’Zox is by far the market leader (>60% domestic market share) in vehicle surface coating system in Japan. Now available in Singapore for the first time through AbsoluteGloss Showcar Detailer, our factory trained technicians will ensures that your vehicles receives the best care and attention it deserved!

G'Zox @ Formula 3

Don’t settle for anything less…an inferior product will cost you money, frustration and compromise your paintwork over time…insist only on Beautiful G’Zox, the Real Glass Coat!

G'Zox by AbsoluteGloss

It’s always wise to purchase from reputable manufacturers who’s products are constantly being fine tuned. Don’t fall for those who paddle cheap alternatives where source and manufacturers are unknown. “Technology from Germany” or “Manufactured in USA” or “Nano Technology” says nothing and is at best a vague attempt to confuse users and is no guarantee of quality. High-tech and quality do cost money and cheap products often do not equate good value!

G'Zox by AbsoluteGloss

How often have we heard that the same products your car detailer endorsed are being used by NASA, US Military or endorsed by certain airlines etc but never any attempt to show proof or certification for it…it’s an old tired trick designed to confuse customers. Look for detailer with a proven track record in taking care of your needs and buy products from reputable manufacturer, not a re-labeled products of unknown origin. Usually a search in the web should provide some hints about the manufacturer’s reputation among consumers.

G'Zox @ JapanGT

G’Zox treatment are also available for your vehicles windscreen & windows, alloy and polished rims, plastic trims, headlights and convertible top.

Matt paintwork? No problem…

1-Jan-2010 · 1 Comment

With the popularity of matt paintwork that’s factory painted on some of the exotics, first seen (I think) in the limited edition Lamborghini Gallardo Nera then continued on the ultra expensive Reventon, I’ve often been asked by clients on how to take care of the matt paintwork they just sprayed/wrapped on their vehicles. Let’s face it, conventional wax, sealant & polishes are designed for the normal single-stage & clearcoated paints but as they contain silicones & oils which will impart a glossy finish to the surface they are applied on, hence they are not suited to treat these matt finishes. It’s obvious these matt paintwork will need some protection as they can just be easily soiled or damaged by the environment and can turn whitish if left uncared for a period of time, and in some cases, irreversible!

Fortunately we are now able to wash, clean, polish & wax these matt finishing safetly and without altering the final look of the paintwork. The same process can be use for all vinyl car wrapping and dry carbon fiber panels.

An example taken from the super-expensive matt dry carbon fiber panels on a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV…

Dirt, finger prints & oil stains etc which can easily damage the surface if not properly cleaned

Cleaned & waxed..finish with a nice matt sheen without oily residues!

A quick look at the work in progress…

...a 50:50 showing the difference before & after treatment

So should you have trouble getting your matt paintwork, vinyl car wrap or matt carbon fiber cleaned & protected, you solution is only a phone call away

Happy New Year to all…

Porsche 993 Carrera restoration detail…

16-Dec-2009 · Leave a Comment

This is one detailing project I’ve been wanting to get my hands on for awhile now…an air-cooled Porsche, in dark-ish colour with a badly maintained paintwork (oh what joy!!!). So when my client brought his 993 Carrera in and asked if I could bring some life back to it’s badly oxidised and swirled out paintwork, I knew just what needed to be done and a 3-days Full Paintwork Correction Signature Detail were swiftly agreed upon.

Because of awkward scheduling, sadly no before picture were taken but this is what’s found all over every panel of the car…

Bad oxidation, heavy deep swirls, industrial overspray...

..see what I mean?

Some before and after pics…

rear engine cover before polish

after polished...

...a 50:50 comparison shot

This is easily some 10 years worth of oxidation being removed from a 1 foot square of paintwork onto a new polishing pad

Layers upon layers of built up contamination being carefully polished out

All emblems, door seals & the metal sunroof being removed in order to gain better access to those hard to reach areas…

Metal sunroof removed…

door seals removed

The finished work…

The front bonnet...

...view of the side panels

nice butt...

...another view of the front bonnet

A couple more pics…

This is what it should look like on a perfectly polished panels..

Insane gloss & deep colour definition can be achieved if you know what you’re doing

...sweet glow from all corners

We are setting our high standard by which all our clients has come to expect, hence this is far from an easy detail by any means, and a couple of late nights were needed to meet the intended schedule! But after seeing the results and the owner’s reaction when he first saw the transformation we did to his car it makes it worthwhile after all…now I can dream of a 993 Turbo or even a 911 GT2 “Badboy” rolling into my garage someday…*hehe*
